Under house arrest!
You ever seen a cat when it’s been locked in doors all day? You know the thing, it’s starts climbing up the curtains and generally going mental. Welcome to my world.
Okay, so it’s not that bad. Not really. Since running the Robin Hood half marathon yesterday, I am pretty much unable to walk. I can hobble a bit and just about make it up and down my stairs but that’s the lot.
Man alive, I am feeling beat up. My entire body feels like it’s been worked over by a butcher’s tenderising mallet. Ouch!
However, I can report that I finished the race in record time, achieving my personal best time in the process a rather satisfying and muscle-knackering 1 hour, 41 minutes (plus some change). That equates (very roughly) to under 8 minute miles over 13 and a bit miles. Pretty good going, I reckon.
Oh, and here’s my medal of honour…
The by-product of these running heroics is being massively debilitated for the last couple of days, hence my confinement to barracks. I did try to head into town today but I got halfway down the street and turned back because my left ankle was killing me (oh, and my right foot has a blister on it the size of a saucer – ha!). What we put ourselves through in the name of fitness, eh?
I’ve contented myself (as I’m also enjoying a few days off from work right now) playing Space Marine on my PS3 (which I am freaking loving – okay, so it’s not Gears, but then in Gears I’m not a Space Marine. Nuff said.) I am pretty far into the game and this, combined with some semi-regular gaming sessions on staff night at Warhammer World, has really rekindled my slightly lapsed hobby gene. I even placed an order for some Sisters of Battle stuff today and am going to rake out my Salamander army (technically, they are just grey men at the moment, but they want to be Salamanders, they really do…).
So, yeah, hobby-tastic right now. Reckon I’m going to dig out Space Hulk and Warhammer Quest too. Bwoop!
Lately, my android phone has been something of a revelation too. Never really bought individual comics before, I don’t like the fact they are so slim and filled with annoying adds, plus there’s the space to consider. Trades are much nicer as a physical artefact and contain a complete story. So, I never really bothered with comics until the comics app on my phone opened my eyes. I’ve been reading old issues of The Authority (awesome) and have been taking advantage of DC’s relaunch with Detective Comics #1 and Justice League #1 – great stuff! Have to say, I loved Knight of Vengeance, which was one of the mini-series associated with Flash Point. The 2nd issue in that mini-series blew my mind!!!
Not a lot else to report. Currently, I’m still working on ‘Feat of Iron’ but tomorrow it’s my birthday, so no writing for me. I’m heading up north to see my family instead and have a go in my mum’s hot tub – that should ease my weary bones… I hope! See ya!
PS Because folks have been asking, here’s a cute picture iof Shakespeare I took today. The little man is awesome as ever…

Bugger, Nick. That is a lot of running. Accolades for doing it.
I personally aspire to successful completion of The Warrior Dash in Illinois next year. Sure, it’s tremendously less involved than your marathon but I must confess to being dwarfish in my cross country doings…. Dangerous over short distances but wasted over the long run. I do, however, get to lug about 150 lbs. up and down stairs as a fireman so hopefully that buys me a little cred.
Well done on the run though, Nick.
In the meantime, take it easy. The body needs recovery.

Thanks, dude. My dad was a fireman, so I know how hard you guys train and how tough you are Maximum respect.
