News Flashes!

As it’s getting on and I’m suffering under a slight cold (I blame the fact that my boiler packed up and I was left colder than Captain Birdeye in the Arctic for two days – brrr), I’ll keep these snippets of news like bullets and to the point.

Hold on to your hats…

* Had the great pleasure of doing an interview for the Lincolnshire Echo last week. Spoke to a very nice journo called Dan about all things writing related and, in particular, Thunder from Fenris. Seems that my first audio is kicking ass and taking names (I’m assured a review on Sf Signal is pending…). If you happen to get the paper, it was in last Saturday’s edition as well as the mighty Grimsby Evening Telegraph (that’s a combined readership of 68,000!).

* Watched Sherlock Holmes on Thursday and, while it wasn’t exactly the Holmes I remember from my childhood or… well, ever, really, it was still bloody enjoyable. Dark, moody, funny and with some great on-screen chemistry between Downey Jr and Law (Holmes and Watson, respectively), I would definitely recommend it. Go with an open mind and you’ll enjoy it, I think.

* Finished the edits on ‘Prometheus Requiem’ (well, almost – I forgot Christian’s feedback sheet, so I might have missed the odd niggle) and reviewed my copy of ‘The Burning’. With all the administrative stuff out of the way, I can finally focus on getting my teeth firmly into Firedrake. Huzzah!

* Traded in a boatload of old games today and furnished myself with a copy of Darksiders and Uncharted 2. I haven’t played the latter yet, but the former kicks celebrated ass. I kinda figured playing one of the Four Horsemen (and War, to boot) would be cool – I was right.

* My eyes were opened to the general awesomeness that is 30 Rock. Man, this show is hilarious. I am a fan of comedy and, let’s face it, America has A LOT – a fair few of them a bit poo. Much like another of my favourite US comedies, Arrested Development (heinously cut off in its prime, it’s running time cut short because, presumably, the US audience just didn’t take to it or the naturally cautious and conservative networks wanted bigger viewing figures), 30 Rock is genius and incredibly funny. I’ve watched the entire First Season and am hungry for more. True, so of the cultural references go over my head, not being a native New Yorker and all that, but it is gold I tell’s ya!

* Finally, the snow and ice are starting to get on my nerves a bit. Sure, it’s a bit bar humbug of me, but I’m done with freezing my ass off, chipping out my car every morning and sliding all over the side streets to my house – enough, I say, enough!

Okay, peeps, that’s your lot for now. I’ll keep you posted with the progress on the novel. Hopefully, now it’ll be full steam ahead and all that good stuff.

Cheers now!

*bows down before your awesome newspaper superiority.*

Good going. And worth it, too – I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Thunder From Fenris. So did Small Son, he tells me to tell you.

I’ll cheerfully trade you in some of that snow and ice. We’ve been spending the last few days cowering inside with the air conditioning and yelping when we have to go outside. Only benefit is that the laundry on the line dries in about the time it takes you to hang it.
