Fireborn competition is drawing to a close…
You’ve only got a few more hours before I shut my doors to entries for the Fireborn competition.
Can I say, though, that I’ve been overwhelmed by the monstrous response and I’m heartily glad that so many of you have entered (I know that reduces your chances, but I’m feeling the love and I thank you all for that).
Over 80 replies and counting (so, I know some of those are multiples or miscellaneous comments but, hey ho, it’s still cool).
And just for being such lovely people, here’s the front cover artwork to Firedrake, the sequel to Salamander…
(I’m too good to you lot
)
So, can anyone guess who this angry chap is… grrr!

Sergeant Lorkar, perhaps?
Oh wait, that was the earlier post… Who is that image of? It really is badass. Cheol joo Lee did a GREAT job with it. Looking forward to more cover art by Lee!!

Awesome front cover, Nick, I’m sure it’s an excellent/daunting feeling to know your stuff will be going behind/within it.
Similarly, I’m very much looking forward to the next bits of the Salamanders stories. So far, so good!
In other news, I suspect (being a keen follower of the blog) that the following may be of interest to you:
http://leethomson.myzen.co.uk/Batman/Batman_Writers%27_Guidelines.pdf
Which, if you can’t guess from the link, is the “Batman Animated Series Writers’ Bible”. I’ve had a glance through it and it seems quite interesting, but then I’m not quite as obsessed with Batman as some others around this way!
Enjoy,
Frank/Xisor

Is it T’Sugan? (sp?)
Awesome cover regardless!
Can’t wait to read it!

Lol nice pic,i jus want ta knw wat the white skin under the blackskin waz about? Haha is it 2 much to hav black astartes.?!

His armour seems to be artificer or heavily decorated.
My votes are:
1. Tsu’gan (due to the title – but Terminator armour would be more fitting)
2. Cpt.Agatone (if the armour is artificer but then the title doesn’t fit with the cover)

Hey Nick, I was wondering if you plan on mentioning, in any of the books/stories in the series, about Vulkan Hes’tan (the character form C:SM)?
December 16th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
i would gues Da’kir might be misspelled sorry about that
December 16th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
the front cover is Sgt Tsu’gan im guessing, reasons why:
#1 combi flamer and chainsword Tsu’gan’s weapons of choice,
#2 The angry comment made by nick himself
#3 the whole ending from “salamander” with tsu’gan gainin access to the firedrakes and the emblem of the firedrakes sat above his “throne”
on the note of him not wearing terminator armour, have played salamanders for 9+ years now, and have digested every piece of fluff i can find about them, i belive that we do not have enough terminator suites for the whole 1st company no were does it state they have 120 suites

Ooooooh Smexi!

Chilon: if I recall correctly, the answer to your question is “yes”. Though I don’t know in what capacity. Mr Kyme has been infuriatingly tight-lipped about it!
Darn you, Nick! *shakes fist*

I was so awestruck by that artwork that I forgot to mention how awesome it looks!
Shame on me!
December 17th, 2009 at 10:20 am
My first thought would also have been Tsu’gan. Based purely on the “angry” comment!
That artwork is just awesome. And I thought the first cover was the best!
December 17th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
If I remember correctly Tsu’gan had a red beard?
If it is him on the cover should we presume that he had a shave?
December 17th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
It’s Tsu’gan. The red beard is actually concealed by his gorget.
And, yes, Vulkan He’stan is most definitely in Firedrake.

Great Cover Nick. What ever happened to the orignal cover to salamander? The One with the marine firing his plasma pistol?
December 18th, 2009 at 10:40 am
yep thats definitly tsu gan he just looks angry lol and he has a combi flamer.. i cant wait to see nick write about vulkan he’stan his such an awesome model in warhammer 40k im interested to see how nick writes him
December 18th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
No question in my mind it’s Tsu’gan. The combi-flamer says it all.

Just finished Salamander – a blindingly good read! Really looking forward to the next one. Good job Nick

I’d say Agatone for he did become captain…
