Lovely Leeds
Howdy doody, just returned from Leeds and my signing at Travelling Man. Had a great time, sold a few books and chatted a bunch with Nabil (the store manager) who is awesome. Cheers for the coffee and for having me, guys – Anthea (and I) really appreciated the cushions, btw.
And on this lovely sunny day, I was struck by inspiration in a Pret a Manger of all places! Yup, we were just heading back to the car and a short trip home when Anth needed a stop off for some food. She was in the queue to be served (by the most laborious staffer in the world, it transpires – sorry, dude, but your slow service was poor) and I was sitting by the window, sun streaming in, and I was hit with my opening scene for the GD short I’m writing.
So, having thrashed it out in the car to figure the rest. I now have the entire thing planned out and ready to go – bwoop! (which, by the way, is the new ‘woot’ only much, much better
).
I’m taking a v. short break from Nocturne (which stands at 64,000+) to get this 5,000 worder nailed and hit a deadline for the first time in yonks. It’s got Marines Malevolent, it’s got Tu’Shan, it’s got refugees and all that stuff (you know the one, come on, say it with me…). It’s Armageddon and a certain well known ‘altercation’ between two particular characters. However, in a dramatic and surprising twist, this is merely the epilogue on a story that really focuses on a Sister Hospitaller called Athena. You’ll have to wait until UKGD to read it, though.
Right, that’s you lot. Enjoy the sun. Post some nice reviews for Damnos on Amazon or something will ya (it’s looking lonely with its single review) and I’ll see you later, taters. Bwoop!
